Today did not go as planned.

After witnessing the eclipse at about 99.8% totality, we started to worry that Kona had not made progress with her labor. She was still in stage I, panting and nesting, but no contractions. So at 2pm we called the vet (24 hrs labor); at 3pm we brought her in. X-rays showed boy was breech, rear forward with legs facing toward his tummy so he was not going to progress into the birth canal. So at 4:35 and 4:37pm, the two were extracted via c-section at 11 and 14 oz!

The whole process was extremely professional and well done; Mary Ann and I were able to watch the whole thing and wait with Kona while she came to. They got the pups on her as soon as she was able to have her tube removed, receiving critical colostrum to aid in their first immunity.

After Kona was able to get around, we took everyone home to rest and eat. Then begins the round the clock shifts--since Kona did not birth the pups, she wasn't quite sure where they came from or whose they were.
